Hello friends,
Last Thursday, April 17, LatinVIP.com hosted at the E Street Cinema in Washington, DC the premiere of the documentary Dream Havana. If I had to summarize the experience in a few words I would just say that it was a total success!
More than 200 people attended the screening and left the theater raving about how moving and profound as well as how well produced the film was. The screening was followed by a very interactive and interesting Q&A with the director of the film Gary Marks and the editor Jamie Godfrey. Check out the pictures!
But we also want to hear from you!!!! If you had the chance to attend the screening, let us know what you thought of the movie, the Q&A or anything else you want to comment on... Just click on the comments link. It's that easy!
If you couldn’t make it, just share with us your ideas of what kinds of events you would like for us to keep on bringing to our area! We want to keep our subscribers happy! Chris B.

FILM SYNOPSIS: In August, 1994, more than 33,000 Cubans attempted to escape the island by sea. Two writers, friends since adolescence, are faced with a choice-continue struggling with the hardships of the island or brave the open water on a homemade raft. Ernesto Santana chooses Cuba, Jorge Mota chooses the Sea.
The two men corresponded through letters and audio cassettes. In Havana, Santana began to publish small works of poetry and short stories, while in Chicago, Jorge quickly gained a reputation as a top investigative reporter. This is the story of their struggles, their successes and the friendship that binds them.
