Dream Havana was a total hit!

Hello friends,

Last Thursday, April 17, LatinVIP.com hosted at the E Street Cinema in Washington, DC the premiere of the documentary
Dream Havana. If I had to summarize the experience in a few words I would just say that it was a total success!

More than 200 people attended the screening and left the theater raving about how moving and profound as well as how well produced the film was. The screening was followed by a very interactive and interesting Q&A with the director of the film Gary Marks and the editor Jamie Godfrey. Check out the pictures!

But we also want to hear from you!!!! If you had the chance to attend the screening, let us know what you thought of the movie, the Q&A or anything else you want to comment on... Just click on the comments link. It's that easy!

If you couldn’t make it, just share with us your ideas of what kinds of events you would like for us to keep on bringing to our area! We want to keep our subscribers happy!

An interesting evening all around! When the narrative got to the part of Jorge Mota getting a U.S. sponsor from Norfolk, VA, I thought: "Hold on a minute! I've heard this story before!" And just as the next scene unfolded (Chicago and the Exito gig), it struck me: I met Jorge in December 1997 at Exito. He'd only been on staff for a couple of months, and everyone made over him. He was not your ordinary "acquisition." He seemed so young then. I'm glad to hear what has become of him, especially that he's been able to bring his family and that they are all together in Miami now.

Awesome documentary that captures the anguish of separation experienced by so many Cubans. Many thanks to Gary Marks and Co. for telling this story so compellingly.
